If you are an individual or organization outside of Miami University and looking to host an event, please use this form to register.

The biggest geek culture event in oxford

GeekCon, formerly known as RECON, is the League of Geeks’ biggest and geekiest event of the year! We bring all of our organizations together to put on a grand convention that highlights what makes our clubs and geek culture in general so great. You can expect all League member organizations to host tons of unique events, as well as crafts, freeplay video and board games, a huge geek trivia competition, and daily geeky prize drawings! We also bring incredible guests to speak and entertain at this event every year such as musical acts, YouTube stars, screen and voice actors, and comedians. Attendance has been in the high hundreds since its conception in 2018 with almost 1000 in 2020; we’re hopeful the next will be our biggest one yet!

The next GeekCon will be March 1st-3rd, 2024. We hope to see you there for games, prizes, and fun for the entire Miami, Oxford, and surrounding community!

Token Events and Prizes

Attendees can enter to win prizes using geek tokens. Different things you do will earn you tokens from The League of Geeks. You can turn these tokens in to be entered to win prizes each day of GeekCon, but there are different prizes each day, so be sure you’ve checked the list to make sure that you enter for your favorites. You must be present to win (so if you can’t be there you’ll need to find someone who can)!

How can you earn a token? 

  • One per unique event marked as a token event in our schedule, if you’re confused as a League or Club member.  

    • Examples include:

      • Play a round of “2 Rooms and a Boom”

      • Play any board game in the Pavilion

      • Geek Seek, which you’ll have to… seek out!

  • If you are seen doing something that an officer sees that exemplifies our Code of Conduct. 

  • Each member of the top three Game Show teams will receive 1 token

  • Beat the Geek challenges

    • Check the schedule to see when and where they’ll be!

  • Show up in cosplay! One token per a day and on Saturday there’s a showcase and parade!

  • Taking part in our group videos thanking our sponsors

Miami’s campus parking information can be found here along with a map you can download there or here! Some things you should take note of include that Miami is currently a cashless campus, so meters, pay-to-park, and garages accept both credit and debit cards. Accessible parking is found in all mentioned Miami parking locations at the same rate.

  • Meters (on most streets on campus): $2.00 per hour

  • South Garage (Campus Avenue Garage by the rec center and Goggin): $1.00 the first hour and $0.50 per hour afterwards

  • North Garage (behind the engineering buildings): $2.00 the first hour and $1.00 per hour afterwards

  • For both garages there is a $25.00 cost for a lost/unreadable ticket.

  • Pay-to-Park (Shriver Center west lot, off Maple near Armstrong, and by MacMillian Hall): $1.00 per hour

If you want to visit uptown for dinner or our local geeky shop Future Great Comics, then you can park and walk to Armstrong via the Slant Walk going through the brick gates. More parking information can be found here, along with a map. Meters and kiosks are active only 9am-8pm from Mon-Sat unless stated otherwise. Depending on the location the prices range from $0.25 to $1.00 an hour, the map has helpful color codes!
